MTS plans to invest about 1 billion rubles (about $13 million) in upgrading the core of its fixed broadband network. The project will run throughout 2026 and 2027, covering 26 Russian regions. As part of the upgrade, the company will deploy BRAS/BNG service routers designed and manufactured in-house.

The project is part of MTS's broader effort to replace imported networking equipment. The company first unveiled its proprietary service router in late 2024. The system can be installed on widely available x86 servers. Depending on the server configuration, the software delivers throughput ranging from 40 Gbps to 200 Gbps.

The equipment is already operating in 22 Russian regions. On some segments of the network, it now handles all user traffic.
