Russia Develops Smart Lifecycle Tracking System for Domestic Aircraft

A new digital platform will provide end-to-end monitoring for Russian-built aircraft, streamlining maintenance and data sharing across the industry.

Russia is rolling out a next-generation system to track the entire post-sale lifecycle of domestically produced aircraft. Known as “Kupol,” the platform will support models like the Sukhoi Superjet, MC-21, Il-114, and PD-14 and PD-8 engines. It’s part of a broader push to digitize the country’s aviation sector.

Kupol enables secure data exchange between aircraft manufacturers, service providers, and airline operators. It will offer real-time updates on aircraft technical status, starting from assembly and continuing through to decommissioning. The initiative was presented to the federal government by Sergei Chemezov, CEO of the state corporation Rostec.

Chemezov also highlighted recent tech breakthroughs in healthcare. Russia has begun producing an AI-powered cancer scanner. The process involves a nurse collecting a tissue sample, placing it on a slide, and inserting it into a smart device. The scanner captures an image, converts it to a digital file, and compares it with a medical database.

In just a few minutes, the system can detect signs of cancer with high precision.

Another medical innovation is a continuous glucose monitor that streams real-time blood sugar data directly to both the patient’s smartphone and their physician.
