Russian authorities plan to expand the use of artificial intelligence across the telecommunications industry to improve mobile internet performance. The proposal is outlined in materials prepared by Mintsifry (Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media) as part of an update to Russia's telecommunications development strategy through 2035, which has been circulated for interagency review.

The documents state that AI-based network management systems have already increased network capacity by 20% to 30% while cutting latency by nearly half. The proposed strategy calls for the development of national AI platforms to manage telecommunications networks, including systems for dynamic radio spectrum allocation and network traffic forecasting.

The strategy also envisions using artificial intelligence to combat fraud and DDoS attacks, optimize the energy consumption of telecommunications equipment, and help prevent network outages.
