The Donbass Agrarian Academy is actively developing agrotechnology classes in schools, giving students hands-on exposure to modern agricultural technologies. The initiative offers children a chance to explore how digital tools are reshaping farming, the DPR Ministry of Agriculture told IT-Russia.

Tomato Growing and Science Experiments

Recently, academy instructors introduced students at a school in Khlebodarovka, Volnovakha district, to scientific experiments. Pupils studied chemical reactions that mimic natural processes and analyzed fertilizer composition. At a school in Kuteynikovo, Amvrosiivka district, students were shown a “smart greenhouse,” where they learned practical techniques for growing tomatoes.

At a school in Blagodatnoye, students learned to operate agricultural drones and even took part in team drone piloting competitions. At School No. 4 in Novotroitskoye, Volnovakha district, young researchers worked with modern digital microscopes and prepared micro-slides. Students also discussed emerging technologies in agriculture and their real-world impact. At Prokhorovka school, participants practiced administering injections using veterinary training simulators.

Preparing the Future in Schools

Officials say this format helps students make informed career choices while showcasing the full potential of modern agricultural technologies.

The Donbass Agrarian Academy plans to expand its network of agrotechnology classes, allowing more students to engage with advanced developments in the agro-industrial sector. Over time, this is expected to strengthen the industry by bringing in professionals skilled in working with digital tools.

Earlier, we reported that a fifth-grade student in Russia had created a smart bird feeder using technology.
