At a meeting chaired by regional head Radiy Khabirov, officials discussed how artificial intelligence is being integrated into sports institutions. A pilot project is already running at several venues, including the Wrestling Palace, the Rima Batalova Training Center, a biathlon school, and 12 other facilities.

Real-Time Camera Analytics

Deputy Prime Minister and Sports Minister Ruslan Khabibov said intelligent cameras have been installed at the sites. They track visitor flow, identify gender and age, measure time spent at the facility, and generate analytics in real time during activities.

“AI deployment at sports facilities goes beyond counting visitors. It helps us understand what people are doing, how events unfold, and which moments require the attention of coaches and referees,” Khabibov said.

Adjusting Schedules

The collected data helps identify when facilities are overloaded or underused. Based on these insights, schedules are adjusted and workloads redistributed across venues.

Safety is another focus area. The system detects unusual situations and helps staff respond more quickly.

“We will know exactly when a facility is overcrowded and when it is underused, allowing us to plan operations more efficiently. Second, and most importantly, safety. AI helps us respond quickly to abnormal situations, increasing trust among visitors and staff. Third, in the future, parents will be able to receive notifications when their child arrives for training and enters the facility,” Khabibov added.

Digital Backbone and Unified System

At the same time, the Ministry of Sports has moved record-keeping into digital form. More than 14,000 facilities have already been added to the system Moy sport (My Sport platform). It allows users to register for GTO fitness tests and mass sports events.

The next stage will expand the system to municipal venues and launch a unified monitoring center for the entire sector. This hub will aggregate data from multiple facilities and enable region-wide sports management.

Khabirov also proposed extending AI use to other social institutions. “Let’s start with our boarding schools and then move on to schools,” he said.
