Russia Launches Digital Platform to Track Horse Breeding
Buryatia begins large-scale inventory of herd horse breeding

A digital platform for tracking pedigree horses will be developed at the Buryat State Agricultural Academy, according to Vice-Rector Sergey Dorzhiev.
Breeding farms will be able to organize data on herd sizes and obtain detailed information on breed characteristics. In the future, the platform could support genomic selection and more advanced breeding practices.
Tracking and Transparency
Earlier, Russia launched a federal state information and analytical system for breeding resources on March 1, 2026.
The digital platform is designed to collect, store, process, and analyze data on pedigree livestock and herds. It includes information on 13 types of animals, including cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, horses, deer, fish, and others.
The system will also allow users to issue electronic breeding certificates and obtain permits for importing breeding materials. In addition, it will feature an open registry of animals and herds available for sale, as well as registries of breeding farms and genetic achievements.
