Russia to Introduce Its First Artificial Intelligence Textbook
The new subject has been officially approved at the federal level.

Russia will publish its first textbook on neural networks, media outlets reported, citing the Ministry of Education. The book, titled Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, will be printed for grades 5–6, 7–8, and 9, and will be delivered to schools later this year.
The new subject has been formally approved at the national level. The textbook was developed by specialists from the Alyans v Sfere II (Alliance in the Field of AI) and the Prosveshchenie publishing house. Instruction will also include video materials and thematic tests. On an online platform, students will complete assignments using Russian-developed neural networks.
A Timely Step
Alexander Vedyakhin, first deputy chairman of Sber, said the materials are designed to build practical skills. They do more than teach students how to use neural networks; they explain how the technology works, highlight its capabilities and limitations, and encourage critical thinking.
Pilot AI lessons will begin in 2026 in schools in the Moscow region. Based on that experience, a federal education program will be developed.
Technology experts say AI education is a timely and necessary step. Children are already actively using neural networks, so the goal now is to teach them how to do so competently and effectively.
