In Russia, Artificial Intelligence Helps Save Budget and Streamline Public Services

Last year in the Moscow region, adopting AI technologies saved about 2.5 billion rubles (~$27 million) and strengthened monitoring of local territories.

In Russia’s Moscow region, deployment of artificial intelligence is already delivering measurable financial and managerial outcomes. Governor Andrey Vorobyov said that over the past year, the use of AI helped the region save 2.5 billion rubles (~$27 million).

Digital systems are being used to monitor the condition of territories and the performance of municipal services, leading to the detection of more than 500,000 violations and accelerated remediation efforts.

Governor Vorobyov noted that the next step should be the development of AI maturity standards for various sectors. Establishing these benchmarks would help identify where intelligent systems deliver the greatest impact and deserve priority attention.

AI Agents and Plans for the Year

Regional authorities plan to expand the use of artificial intelligence in public administration. In 2026, the Moscow region intends to launch 15 more AI projects focused on specific applied tasks. Among them are specialized AI agents, such as Neyroyurist (Neuro-Lawyer), which will help update the region’s regulatory framework in accordance with federal standards.

AI as a Management Tool

Using AI in government administration not only reduces expenses but also improves the quality of oversight and decision execution. This, in turn, helps shape a more resilient model of regional development. As a result, neural networks have become an integral part of the daily work of regional managers.
