E-Commerce Turnover in Russia Grows Sixfold
Law on platform economy is set to make the sector more efficient

E-commerce turnover in Russia has increased sixfold in recent years, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a strategic session on regulating the platform economy.
He stressed the importance of protecting the interests of consumers and suppliers in such a fast-growing market.
Digital platforms connect sellers and buyers directly, reducing costs for entrepreneurs and helping them access new markets. Most online commerce is concentrated in marketplaces, ride-hailing services and food delivery platforms.
To Protect Consumers and Businesses
To protect all market participants, the Russian government is updating the regulatory framework. A federal law on the platform economy will take effect in October 2026. Digital platforms will be required to interact with state information systems to strengthen product quality and safety oversight.
