More Than 1 Million Hectares of Farmland in Russia to Be Treated Using Drones
The aircraft are being used for a wide range of farming applications.

More than 1 million hectares of farmland across Russia will be treated with agricultural drones in 2026, Russian Deputy Agriculture Minister Roman Nekrasov said during a plenary session at the UAV Workforce Forum 2026 in Tolyatti.
The deputy minister said the use of unmanned systems across Russia's agricultural sector continues to expand. In 2025, agricultural drones were used to treat more than 781,000 hectares of farmland.
The drones are deployed for a broad range of agricultural tasks. They are used to treat crop fields, fallow land, and idle agricultural land, as well as to control invasive plant species such as Sosnowsky's hogweed.
The annual UAV Workforce Forum 2026 is jointly organized by Russia's Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Government of the Samara Region, and University 2035. The event serves as a venue for expert discussions on the unmanned aircraft sector's most pressing workforce challenges and for coordinating approaches and tools for developing the industry's talent pipeline.
