Udmurtia Digitizes Intellectual Property Management

The government of Udmurtia has signed an agreement with the Russian Center for the Circulation of Rights to Creative Works (RCIS) to digitize the region's intellectual property ecosystem. The partnership is part of the national Ekonomika dannykh (Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State) initiative adopted under a decision by President Vladimir Putin.

"Udmurtia is committed to advancing innovation and modern technological solutions. We rank among Russia's top ten regions by the number of small technology companies. That is an important part of our technological sovereignty. To make sure intellectual property rights can be transferred legally and without unnecessary delays, we are working to establish a robust intellectual property marketplace across the republic," said Udmurtia Prime Minister Roman Yefimov.

The РЦИС.РФ platform will help regional authorities obtain data on technologies developed in the republic, many of which currently fall outside official government statistics. That will enable policymakers to assess innovation support programs more accurately and make better-informed decisions on the development of individual industries and companies.

The agreement also calls for launching pilot projects and removing administrative barriers so that engineering design bureaus, research institutes, and startups can more easily protect and commercialize their innovations.
