Kaspersky Expands Enterprise Security Portfolio With Vulnerability Management Platform

Kaspersky has announced the launch of Kaspersky Vulnerability Management (Kaspersky VM) for the Russian enterprise market. The platform is designed to centralize vulnerability discovery, assessment, and remediation across corporate IT infrastructure.

The initial release targets small and medium-sized businesses and is compatible with Russian software and operating systems. The platform automatically discovers connected devices and installed applications, scans workstations and servers, prioritizes vulnerabilities based on risk, tracks software updates, and verifies compliance with cybersecurity requirements.

Rapid Vulnerability Detection

The platform supports both agent-based and agentless network scanning modes and is compatible with Windows, Linux, and more than a dozen Russian and international operating system distributions.

The launch is not a technological breakthrough in the global vulnerability management market. Comparable platforms are already available from both Russian and international cybersecurity vendors. Even so, the release is significant in the domestic market. Its primary value lies in expanding the portfolio of Russian cybersecurity technologies while adding a dedicated vulnerability management platform to the ecosystem of one of the country's largest security software developers.

For businesses, the platform offers faster vulnerability detection and more effective patch prioritization, helping reduce the risks of data breaches, service disruptions, and attacks that exploit unremediated security flaws. It also enables organizations already using Kaspersky products to integrate vulnerability management into their existing security infrastructure. In addition, Russian enterprises gain another alternative to foreign vulnerability management platforms. The benefits for citizens are indirect but meaningful, as stronger protection of banking, government, and other digital services that process personal data contributes to a more secure digital environment.

Focus on Local Infrastructure

Kaspersky VM is positioned to address growing demand in the Russian market, where increasingly complex IT environments, a rising number of vulnerabilities, and the replacement of foreign software have expanded the need for vulnerability management tools. The market is already competitive, with platforms including MaxPatrol VM, R-Vision VM, Security Vision VM, and others.

Going forward, the platform could evolve through deployments at large distributed organizations, expanded patch management capabilities for Russian operating systems and software, analysis of cloud and containerized environments, and the application of artificial intelligence to risk assessment. Additional automation for task assignment and remediation tracking is also possible. The current release is focused primarily on on-premises infrastructure, while cloud capabilities remain a strategic direction for future development.

Kaspersky's international presence provides export potential for the platform. It could find demand across the CIS, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Expanding into those markets, however, will require broader platform support, a mature cloud version, compliance with local regulatory requirements, product localization, and the ability to overcome sanctions-related constraints. As a result, Russia and other friendly markets are expected to remain the company's primary focus in the near term.

Growing Competition

In 2022, Positive Technologies continued developing its MaxPatrol VM platform for infrastructure inventory, vulnerability prioritization, and remediation management, while reporting results from pilot deployments. During the same period, Security Vision introduced its own vulnerability management module, later expanding it with vulnerability scanning, asset management, and configuration management capabilities.

In 2023, Security Vision enhanced the platform by extending vulnerability discovery across Windows, Linux, network equipment, databases, and containerized environments. That evolution reflected a broader shift among Russian vendors from standalone vulnerability scanning toward full lifecycle vulnerability management and, during 2024 and 2025, toward continuous attack surface and cyber risk management.

Kaspersky VM entered commercial availability against that backdrop. Its launch further underscores both the growth of the Russian vulnerability management market and intensifying competition among domestic cybersecurity vendors.

Conclusions

Kaspersky VM strengthens Russia's vulnerability management segment while expanding the country's portfolio of domestically developed cybersecurity technologies. One of its principal advantages could be the integration of threat intelligence, device management, patch management, and compliance monitoring within a unified security ecosystem.

Initially, the platform is expected to appeal primarily to Kaspersky's existing customer base, particularly small and medium-sized businesses. Broader adoption among large enterprises will likely depend on expanded support for cloud-native, containerized, and distributed environments.

Over the next several years, the vulnerability management market is expected to shift from periodic scanning toward continuous risk management that takes into account asset value, exploit availability, and potential business impact. Automation and artificial intelligence are also expected to play a growing role. That transition will place greater emphasis on the speed of vulnerability detection and remediation as a key competitive differentiator for vulnerability management platforms.

Kaspersky Vulnerability Management builds on Kaspersky's portfolio of security solutions and our many years of international expertise in identifying and mitigating cyberthreats worldwide. Integration with the company's other products enables customers to optimize the total cost of ownership of their IT infrastructure, positively affecting both operational efficiency and business competitiveness
