Russian Expert Outlines the Advantages of Vendor Independence in the IT Sector
Diversifying an IT portfolio reduces strategic risks tied to reliance on a single supplier and can deliver tangible economic benefits for companies.

Alexander Goldshtein, CEO of the Scientific and Technical Center ARGUS, Doctor of Engineering, and professor at the Department of Information and Communication Systems at Saint Petersburg State University of Telecommunications, told IT Russia why companies are increasingly moving away from single-vendor solutions. Instead, they are choosing to diversify their IT portfolios by assembling best-in-class products from multiple providers.
Independence and Economic Value
According to the expert, vendor independence is also becoming a trend because recent import substitution efforts have shown how difficult it is to quickly move away from a system that underpins numerous operational and business processes. When a supplier exits the market, the impact can be severe for many companies. By contrast, risks are significantly lower when organizations are not fully dependent on a single software provider.
The range of technologies offered by Russian vendors continues to expand, with the country delivering an increasing number of competitive solutions for a wide variety of business challenges.
